Import Configuration¶
Import configuration sets up the connections and settings X4D uses to bring data in from other engineering systems, and lets you reuse configuration across projects.
Linked servers (3rd-party sources)¶
X4D connects to external data sources through generic gateways — SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Access, Excel, and others. Configure a linked server for each source so tags, attributes, and MTO can be imported and periodically synchronised.
Import project configuration from other projects¶
Rather than rebuilding settings each time, you can import an existing project’s configuration (for example disciplines, classifications, attributes, and tag patterns) into a new project as a starting point, then adjust it as needed.
