X4D License:¶
X4D Project Licensing¶
X4D uses a project-specific licensing model. Each project requires an individual X4D license, which is generated specifically for the target project database and environment.
By default, a separate license is required for each project. Where agreed as part of the commercial arrangement, separate licenses may also be issued for Development (DEV), Testing (TEST/UAT), Training, and Production (PROD) environments.
Each X4D license is associated with the following database configuration:
-
SQL Server Name or IP Address
-
SQL Server Instance Name
-
SQL Database Name
This ensures that the license is valid only for the approved project environment and database configuration.

SQL Server Requirements¶
X4D requires SQL Authentication to be enabled on the SQL Server instance (Mixed Mode Authentication).
During project creation, X4D automatically creates a project-specific SQL login using the naming convention, X4D_ProjectCode
This login is assigned to the required database permissions to support X4D operations.
The login password is automatically generated, encrypted within the X4D license, and managed by X4D. Clients should not modify, rename, disable, or delete this login.
If the password for the X4D project login must be changed due to client security policies or infrastructure changes, a new X4D license must be requested from CAD Global. A replacement license will be issued with updated encrypted credentials.
Database Naming Convention¶
Unless otherwise specified, the default X4D database naming convention is:
X4D_ProjectCode¶
Examples:
-
X4D_SUNCORCBR
-
X4D_FIREBAG
-
X4D_PROJECT001
Custom database names may be used if required by the client or project standards.
License Updates¶
A new or updated license may be required when any of the following changes occur:
-
SQL Server migration
-
SQL Server Instance name change
-
SQL Server port change
-
Database name change
-
Changes to the X4D project login credentials
-
Deployment of a new server or infrastructure environment
-
Creation of additional DEV, TEST, TRAINING, or PROD environments
